Latinos and Hispanics are significant drivers of travel in the U.S., and more than half say they look to book short-term rentals when they’re on the road.
Latin and Hispanic travelers are on track to increase their leisure trips by 10%, and spend $180 more per trip compared to the last 12 months, Airbnb reported in a recent blog post.
Of those travelers, 54% consider Airbnb or short-term rentals when traveling. Analyzing app users, Airbnb found a 32% rise in U.S. guests choosing Spanish as the primary language for booking in 2023.
Part of the reason for the popularity among Latinos and Hispanics looks to be family bonds, with 61% giving "visiting family" as their reason for traveling. What’s more, 74% report traveling with extended family, 9% more than non-Latin and non-Hispanic travelers.
Top destinations for Latin and Hispanic travelers include Las Vegas, Nevada, coming in at number one, as well as Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Austin, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona.
“Listening to the needs of our community and continuing to innovate is crucial for us as we grow and earn more trust from our guests, including those within the vibrant Latin and Hispanic Community,” Dave Stephenson, Chief Business Officer at Airbnb, said in the post.
